The Asia Pacific Space Centre will occupy land on the Southern end of Christmas Island in the region known as South Point. Launch and technical facilities are being constructed in an area previously used for phosphate mining.
The Space Centre will occupy a total area of 85 hectares, of which approximately 30% will be built upon. Additional facilities are being constructed on the Northern side of the island, near the settled areas, to support administration and accommodation of Space Centre construction and operations personnel.
